Paprika

Nina was introduced to a merging of design and craft by her architect father and silversmith mother at an early age, and has had a lifetime of absorbing a deep knowledge and understanding of the art of silversmithing, which she approaches with the sensibility of a designer.
In 2005, Nina graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design with a degree in design and headed to the West Coast where she started Paprika; a freelance graphic design business on Gabriola Island. Her love for beautiful craftsmanship and art led her to follow in her mother’s footsteps and begin a career in jewellery.
Nina’s work can be found in over 18 stores and galleries across Canada including the Craft Council of BC’s Shop & Gallery, and The Audain Art Museum in Whistler, the Royal BC Museum, and the Ottawa Art Gallery.
Nina’s graphic design and illustration knowledge, merge together with her silversmithing talents to create a truly unique body of work, unparalleled in design, quality and craftsmanship. Her work is inspired by Scandinavian design, clean lines, symmetry, and beautiful simplicity in nature and art. Nina strives for quality craftsmanship and attention to detail and works to infuse these sensibilities into her pieces. Nina approaches silversmithing as creating wearable art, or small sculptures for the body – practical, unembellished, yet beautifully crafted and timeless in design.
She lives on Gabriola Island with her husband, Adrian and two children, Hanna and Oscar.
